The Reformer has long since arrived in modern physiotherapy. Where a mat on the floor sets limits to exercise, the spring-loaded carriage opens up new possibilities for movement — precisely adjustable resistance, controlled mobilization, and exercise variations that only become possible with the device. As a physiotherapist or practice owner looking to integrate a Reformer into your clinic, there are a few points that differ from buying one for a studio. We know them and provide advice accordingly.
Who this is for
This page is for:
- Physiotherapy practices (solo or group practices)
- Rehabilitation centers with active therapy programs
- Orthopedic or neurological clinics with movement therapy areas
- Specialized therapists who incorporate Reformers into their training offering
What is different about physio requirements
Hygiene
In physiotherapy, patients change frequently. Upholstery must be:
- Easy to wipe clean (no perforated leather, no open seams with dirt traps)
- Disinfectant-resistant (commonly: alcohol-based surface disinfectants)
- Easily replaceable in the event of wear or damage
We offer wipe-clean covers as standard; we will discuss details on cleaning and disinfection during the consultation.
Loads in everyday practice
Reformers in everyday practice are subjected to different stresses than studio equipment:- Movement is often guided by the therapist (they lead, correct, support) → lateral loads
- Changing spring configurations during a single session → springs and carabiners are adjusted more frequently
- Inexperienced users → sometimes jerky movements; the device must be forgiving
Our Reformers feature industrial bearings, bolted connections, and stainless steel carabiners. This isn't for "premium show" — it is a prerequisite for everyday practice.
Precise resistance
In practice, every degree of resistance counts. Our Reformers come with 5 springs of varying strengths, all individually usable. This allows for fine-tuned resistance.
Recommended setups for physio practices
- Small practice (single therapist): 1 Reformer (classic or with tower) + optional 1 Half-Cadillac
- Medium-sized practice (3–5 therapists): 2 Reformers + 1 Cadillac + 1 Arc Barrel
- Rehab center / clinic: Based on an individual needs analysis — we will discuss larger setups during a consultation
Material recommendation for physio: Aluminum Reformers are often practical — easier to wipe down, less sensitive to climate changes, and easier to move. Wooden Reformers available on request.
→ To the equipment: Aluminum Reformers · Wooden Reformers · all Reformers · for mobilization exercises, the Spine Corrector
Training & application
We supply the equipment itself. Training in using the Reformer is up to the therapists — usually through Pilates certifications. Upon request, we can provide contacts for training providers in your region.
